YouTube Thumbnail
Paste a video link. Every available resolution appears below.
Works with normal links, youtu.be short links, Shorts, embeds, or a bare video ID.
Thumbnails belong to whoever made the video. Fine for reference, reaction covers, or a link preview — but ask before republishing one as your own.
About YouTube thumbnails
YouTube stores several sizes of every video’s cover image on a public server. This tool builds those addresses from the video ID and shows you which ones exist.
What is the largest thumbnail available?
1280×720, called maxresdefault. It only exists if the uploader provided an image that large, so older and smaller channels often top out at 640×480.
Does this work with Shorts?
Yes. Shorts links, youtu.be short links, embed URLs and a bare video ID all work.
Why is one size greyed out?
Because YouTube does not hold it for that video. Rather than returning an error, YouTube serves a small grey placeholder — the tool detects that and marks the size unavailable.
Can I use these images?
The thumbnail belongs to whoever made the video. Referencing, linking or commentary is generally fine; republishing it as your own is not. Ask permission if you are unsure.
