About image sizes
Every platform crops uploads to its own dimensions, usually badly. Choosing the size yourself means you decide what stays in frame instead of finding out after you post.
What size should an Instagram post be?
Square posts are 1080×1080. Portrait posts are 1080×1350 and take up more room in the feed, which is why most accounts use them. Stories and Reels are 1080×1920.
What size is a YouTube thumbnail?
1280×720, which is 16:9. YouTube asks for a minimum of 640 pixels wide and a file under 2 MB. If yours is over, run it through the image compressor.
Should I fill the frame or fit the whole image?
Fill crops the edges so there is no empty space — right for photos. Fit shrinks the whole picture and pads the gaps with a colour, which suits logos, screenshots and anything you cannot afford to cut.
Will resizing make my photo blurry?
Making a photo smaller is safe. Making it larger than the original is not — the pixels have to be invented. If the tool warns your photo is narrower than the target, start from a bigger original.
